Replication studies, datasets and benchmarks, negative results, and practical implementation reports. If your work is rigorous and useful but does not fit the flagship journal's format, this is likely its home.
Open-access licensing and APCs
Every article is published open access under a permissive license so any reader can use it. Article processing charges are kept low, and waivers are available for authors without funding.
How it relates to JHDS
JHDS Open shares the editorial standards and reviewer pool of the flagship journal but operates on a faster timeline and with a wider remit. Submissions to one journal may be referred to the other when that is the better fit.
