Governance

Board of Directors

ASHDS is governed by a volunteer board of practicing leaders in health data science, elected by the membership.

Officers

Dr. Priya Ramaswamy, MD, MS, FHDS

President (2025–2027)

Chief Medical Information Officer, Meridian Health System

Priya leads a 14-hospital network's clinical data strategy and co-founded the Society's first health equity working group in 2017. She is a practicing internist who still keeps half a day a week in clinic, which she says keeps her honest about what data work is actually for.

Marcus Bellweather, PhD, FHDS

President-Elect (2025–2027)

Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Cascadia University

Marcus runs a research lab focused on predictive risk models for chronic disease and has mentored more than 40 graduate students into the field. He is known on the board for asking the question everyone else is avoiding.

Yuki Tanaka, MPH, CHDS

Secretary-Treasurer (2024–2026)

Director of Population Health Analytics, Brookline Medical Center

Yuki built her hospital's analytics function from a single dashboard into a 22-person team and now oversees the financial stewardship of the Society's certification and journal programs. She is meticulous about budgets and patient when explaining them.

Dr. James Okonkwo, MD, MBA, FHDS

Immediate Past President (2025–2027)

Senior Vice President of Clinical Intelligence, Northgate Care Partners

James served as President from 2023 to 2025, during which membership crossed 6,000 for the first time. He spent two decades in emergency medicine before moving into informatics leadership and brings that pace to everything he does.

Directors

Dr. Aisha Diallo, MD, MS, FHDS

Director (2024–2027)

Associate Chief Quality Officer, Riverstone Children's Hospital

Aisha works on algorithmic safety in pediatric care and led the development of the Society's model documentation guidelines. She is a frequent and clear-eyed voice on what can go wrong when models meet bedside reality.

Daniel Hofstetter, MS, CHDS

Director (2024–2026)

Lead Data Engineer, Halcyon Health Plans

Daniel manages the data infrastructure behind a regional insurer covering 1.8 million members and represents the payer side of the membership. He is the resident expert on the unglamorous plumbing that makes everything else possible.

Rosa Calderón, MPH, CHDS

Director (2025–2028)

Director of Community Health Informatics, Valle Verde Community Health Network

Rosa designs analytics for federally qualified health centers serving largely uninsured and rural populations. She joined the board to keep the Society's work useful to organizations without large data budgets.

Dr. Wei Chen, PhD, FHDS

Director (2025–2028)

Principal Research Scientist, Lumen Health AI

Wei works on clinical natural language processing and large language model evaluation, and he co-chairs the LLMs in Care special interest group. He is careful to separate what the technology can do from what vendors say it can do.

Tobias Andersson, MS, CAHDS

Director (2024–2027)

Senior Healthcare Analyst, Pinewood Regional Medical Group

Tobias is an early-career director who came up through the analyst ranks and advocates for clearer pathways into the profession. He is the board's most reliable advocate for the people three rungs below the people usually in the room.

Dr. Fatima Al-Rashid, MD, MPH, FHDS

Director (2025–2027)

Chief Health Officer, Sable Digital Health

Fatima leads clinical strategy at a digital health startup and previously ran quality improvement at a large academic medical center. She bridges fast-moving product teams and slow-moving evidence, and translates well in both directions.

Gregory Mbeki, PhD, FHDS

Director (2024–2026)

Professor of Public Health, Trent Valley University

Gregory studies health disparities using large administrative datasets and serves as faculty liaison for the student chapters. He has a gift for making a roomful of clinicians care about a methods footnote.
